The 57th East Anglian Derby Final Presentation
Having won the £12000 Final last year with Larkhill
Bullet, it was back to back winners for Trainer
Charlie Lister, when Burberry Boy took last nights
57th East Anglian Greyhound Derby Final and another
£12000 prize, at Yarmouth Stadium. Burberry Boy, a
well supported even money favourite `on the Books`
was slightly crowded at the start but he still put
in an impressive early run to lead at the first bend
and thereon dominate the race in 28.01 seconds, the
third fastest winning time in the forty seven year
history of the East Anglian Greyhound Derby.
Lockup Firedice, Trained by John Mullins at his
Colchester Kennels, running his one hundred and
second race, took second place and a £2500 prize.
Yarmouth Stadium’s Managing Director, Stephen
Franklin presented the Silver Challenge Trophy to
Burberry Boy’s joint Owners Martin and Tina
Wakefield, joined by a host of friends. Shown with
the Trophy are Charlie Lister and Head Kennel Hand
Chris Akers, holding the Winner Ian Sutherland.
Joint Owner of Burberry Boy, with Martin Wakefield,
Laurence Blunt was in Ireland as they also jointly
own Droopys Joel, second favourite in the Irish
Greyhound Derby Final, to be run at Shelbourne Park,
Dublin, the following Saturday evening.
The Derby Purse - £1000 To The Winner
Won by Dunmurry Marli, Owned and Trained by Henry
Rogers. Beryl Perkins of Invincia Feeds joined Henry
for the Presentation by Stephen Franklin.
The Pepsi Sprint - £1000 To The Winner
Won by Sewmuch Speed Trained by Charlie Lister who
receives the Trophy from Stephen Franklin, Head
Kennel Hand Chris Akers holds the Winner.
